Olin Brass History
n May, 1916, the first bar of metal was cast
at the Western Brass Mill founded by Franklin
Olin in East Alton, Illinois. The Western Brass
Mill was originally founded to service a need
for cupping used by its mother company, Western
Cartridge, during World War I.
In 1928, Olin Corporation became a commercial supplier of copper based strip products.
Since the very beginning of it all, Olin Corporation has stood for high quality
product and customer service. Due to the high goals set by the founders of Olin
Corporation, an ammunition company founded in 1892 has grown into a company
of highly diversified products.
Olin Brass Fabricated Products has been part of Olin Corporation for over 75 years.
With experience in copper-based alloys, stainless steel, carbon steel, and aluminum
alloys, Fabricated Products will provide a well-designed product that fits your
needs.
In 2007, Olin Corporation divested the Olin
Brass Group to Global Brass and Copper, Inc
creating GBC Metals, LLC doing business as Olin
Brass.
Olin Brass product lines include Olin Brass Fabricated Products, A.J. Oster
distribution services, Somers Thin Strip, Fineweld
Tube and Chase Brass.
